When New Year’s Day 2020 occurred, everyone was filled with hopes and dreams for the future. A New Year and a new chance to create the life they’ve always dreamed of. No one ever expected a global pandemic that would change everything.
So many people were affected by this unexpected change in history. As a landscape photographer, the world shutting down was a big blow to my ability to continue to create the beautiful landscapes that you love!
After the initial shock of life as we know it coming to a complete halt, I knew I had to figure out a way to continue to do what I loved. Not being able to fly anywhere and barely able to drive places, I searched for more local spots that might offer a unique photo opportunity.
One night I took a drive to Downtown St. Pete. Usually, a very popular place but today, no cars, no buses, no tourist... no one! The streets were like a ghost town as I walked around looking for a beautiful place to take the photo and echo this odd experience.
I found myself on a main road, one that is usually overloaded with cars and people. I walked to the middle of the street to line up the shot, using the empty road as a leading line and just as I was about to take the photo, the sky lit up giving this photo a uniqueness that will never be seen again!
The only thing missing was a tumbleweed rolling through the scene like those old western movies when the towns people had retreated to safety.
