About the photo:

Cape Town - South Africa

The day of this photo there was no plan, there was no guide and there were no expectations. This day was a trip to visit several of the wineries in Cape Town, South Africa. I took my camera because I found out the hard way to always take it with me no matter what. The one time I didn’t bring it with me, I missed one of the most epic sunsets I had ever seen. I vowed to never make that mistake again.

The first place we went was beautiful. Amazing wine (and between me and you, I'm not a big wine drinker...more of a scotch man. Lol)! It was your typical winery, and we had our share of some very fine wine and cheese.

Not being a wine drinker, I had had enough to feel the wine taking effect. As we drove to the next winery, I noticed the scenery getting more and more spectacular. I pulled out my camera and started taking some photos out the window. It took a little concentration, but it was too good to pass up.

We were in a town called Stellenbosch and the winery we arrived at was amazing! Views like you wouldn’t believe! I could feel the wine at this point. The entrance to the winery felt like entering a royal estate. An incredible wrought iron gate granted us passage. The long winding drive to the estate was guided by massive shrubs and bushes groomed to perfection. Flowers of every kind were placed with precision to create one of the most beautiful greetings you’ve ever received.

At this point I wasn’t sure if the wine was really hitting me, or this place was this beautiful. After parking, I grabbed my camera and took off to find the picture I knew I would regret if I missed this chance. I knew my subject had to be the mountain that seemed to jump out of the Jurassic period. But it needed a foreground that complimented it perfectly. That’s when I found the purple flowers. They were a perfect contrast in every way. I took the photo.

Job done, I sat back with a glass of wine and enjoyed one of the most beautiful places I have ever been to. I highly recommend it. By the way, we had a driver, none who were drinking were driving.

Printing Information:

Images are infused into specially coated surfaces, providing the most durable and longest lasting print medium. The aluminum panels are extremely durable, offering scratch and abrasion resistance without hiding your image behind glass. Sublimation metal also offers the highest fade resistance compared to every other photo medium.

Dye-sublimation printing is a computer printing technique which uses heat to transfer dye onto many materials. In order to transfer the image from the paper to the aluminum, it requires a heat press process that is a combination of time, temperature and pressure. The heat press applies this special combination, to “transfer” the sublimation dyes at the molecular level into the aluminum.

The images are fade resistant- the latest testing shows they will last a lifetime with resistance to yellowing and climate damage. They are chemical resistant- the surfaces can be cleaned with ammonia, bleach, acetone or any all-purpose cleaner. The images are also moisture resistant.

The aluminum is .045" thick and is finished with a float mount on the back for hanging. The Aluminum panels are lightweight, durable, and made with recycled material and 100% recyclable.
