The first thing you’re probably wondering, is why in the world is this photo named: Flower Rose Sprinkles. And that wouldn’t be surprising at all. I mean, why in the world would I name a photo of a giraffe that? Well, let me explain.
Before my wife and I tripped to Africa, I was hanging out with my 4-year-old goddaughter. I was telling her about where we were going, what we were going to see and asked if she’d like me to bring her something back. She, of course, vigorously nodded her head in that excited kid way.
After a few questions, silly responses, giggles, and hiding under covers, she finally admitted to loving animals, specifically giraffes. The task had been set; the gift noted.
Now in Africa, the search began. After several safaris, we still hadn’t seen any giraffes, very uncommon I was told. We saw all kinds of other animals, but not the one I had to find! Safari after safari went by with no luck. How was I going to go back and tell her I traveled across the world and failed? No way!
On the final day, our last safari, we drove around a bend and just like that, she appeared. Whether sheer luck, godly intervention or the native sense of an animal knowing I was in trouble, she gracefully walked out of the brush into sight.
Upon return, I had found a plush stuffed giraffe as an additional gift to the photo. She was thrilled with the present. When I asked her what the giraffes name was, she answered in all seriousness: Flower Rose Sprinkles!
