About the Photo:
One thing that drives me as a photographer is finding a unique photo. One that hasn’t been taken, or maybe that’s been taken before but I add a unique spin to it to make it unlike any other. That was the goal for this photo.
My challenge: to take a unique photo of the Clearwater Beach Causeway. The problem: it is a highly photographed bridge. Hundreds of photos, hundreds of angles, and at all different times. Good thing I like a challenge!
Arriving at the location, quite a popular location as it’s the new pier, I looked around for a spot that might work. The evening was relatively quiet as I walked around. I took several photos, just as tests though. The light was not right yet. I was waiting for the warm golden glow that Florida is known for. I continued to look.
As the sun continued its slow descent towards the horizon, I started to get a little nervous. I had yet to find the spot I liked. I decided that I was making things to difficult.
What did I want to do? I wanted to feature the grandeur of the bridge. I wanted to represent the alluring Florida sunsets and I wanted the viewer to feel like they were standing right there. Feeling the warmth of the sun on their face, the warm ocean breeze gently caressing their skin and the sound of the waves softly crashing onto the rocks.
I found the spot. I set the camera and took the photo. Looking at this photo I feel I captured that moment. Do you agree?
